LABOR DELIVERS $5 MILLION INVESTMENT TO TRANSFORM ALBERT PARK SPORTING CLUBS

The Albanese Labor Government has reached an agreement with Parks Victoria on its $5 million commitment to upgrade sports and recreational facilities in Albert Park.

With more than 260 sporting clubs and 6,000 members across 16 land and water sports, Albert Park is one of Australia’s most utilised community sporting precincts, with demand increasing each year.

Despite the demand, many of the facilities in Albert Park are outdated, with ageing changerooms and facilities in need of work.

The funding allocation was aligned with the priorities in Parks Victoria’s masterplan. The priorities for funding were based on the state and use of the facilities as well as increasing female participation in sport.

The $5 million investment will include:

Change Room Upgrades

Stuart King Pavilion

Beaurepaire Pavilion

Lighting Upgrades:

Oval 1

Oval 13

Minor Sports Facility Upgrades

Field 6 (Baseball Diamond Area)

Field 10

Sailing Precinct

Works on each project will be scheduled to minimise disruption to sporting teams. The first works will commence over the coming weeks and all projects will be completed by the end of 2025.
