And we've invested $200 million to restore natural wetlands and waterways in cities, and $1 billion to boost recycling capacity by over a million tonnes.

Our new Nature Repair Market is utilising private investment to support landholders, conservation groups, farmers and First Nations organisations to perform vital conservation work, including:

• Replenting native forest and woodland ecosystems
• Enhancing remnant vegetation
• Protecting and restoring native forests
• Managing invasive pests and weeds
• Managing habitats in arid and semi-arid areas

The Nature Repair Market is about unlocking Australia’s vast biodiversity market, which is estimated to be worth $137 billion.

Our new Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act is imposing clearer guidelines, stronger standards and higher penalties to protect our natural environment.

And for the first time, Australia has a new National Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) focused on enforcing these new laws - including sea dumping, ozone protection, synthetic greenhouse gas management, hazardous waste, product emissions standards, recycling and waste reduction and underwater cultural heritage.

This Act builds upon our existing work to allow the Minister for Environment to block unconventional gas projects which will have a significant impact on water resources through an expanded ‘water trigger’.
