The Albanese Labor Government and Carroll Labor Government have partnered with Housing First to deliver 97 new social homes in Noble Park.
Today, Minister Nick Staikos and Special Envoy Josh Burns joined Housing First CEO Jan Berriman to officially open the Noble Park Community Housing Development in Noble Park, which commenced construction in 2025 and has been completed ahead of schedule.
This fantastic project has been financed through equity contributions from Housing First, with support through the Federal Housing Australia Future Fund (R1) and Homes Victoria Build and Operate Program (R3).
It will be home to 97 Victorian households on the social housing register, with 75% of the homes to be allocated to priority tenants, including young people, people with complex needs, and households who have experienced family violence.
These homes are some of the 55,000 social and affordable homes that the Albanese Labor Government is delivering through its ambitious $45 billion plan to build more homes and make them easier for first home buyers to buy.
Through the Big Housing Build and Social Housing Growth Fund, the Carroll Labor Government is delivering social and community homes like these right across Victoria, with more than 16,000 homes already underway, in planning or complete.
These new homes will be owned and managed by Housing First, which provides social housing for over 2,500 people across Melbourne and is one of Victoria’s fastest growing community housing organisations.
Project Details
Developed by Cedar Woods and built by Balmain & Co, the Noble Park Community Housing Development is delivering 61 one-bedroom apartments and 36 two-bedroom apartments for Victorians in need of social housing.
Built on the site of an old carpark, this development is situated next to the Noble Park Railway Station and Bus Interchange, with a primary school, secondary school, shopping centre, medical centre and maternal and child health centre all less than a kilometre away.
Designed by DKO Architecture, the development includes 49 car parks, 98 bike racks, a bike maintenance room, an EV bike charging station, a communal open space with seating and landscaping, plus six commercial tenancies to support street-level business and trade.
The apartments are all-electric, including solar power systems, and are fitted out with energy-efficient appliances, saving tenants thousands in energy costs.
