The Victorian Government's Local Sports Infrastructure Fund

The Victorian Government is helping communities and clubs transform inadequate sports grounds and ageing clubrooms, with new infrastructure and recreation spaces being built to encourage people to be active and reap the benefits of physical activity.

The inaugural round of the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund is now open and builds on investments worth more than $850 million into community sport and active recreation infrastructure by the Victorian Labor Government since 2014.

The Local Sports Infrastructure Fund will invest up to $22 million across Victoria to develop infrastructure that provides modern, family and female-friendly, safe, inclusive and accessible facilities with room to grow and welcome more participants than ever before.

The fund includes a range of funding streams with eligible projects including aquatic centre upgrades, sports grounds and pavilion developments, sport surfaces and lighting installations, active recreation facilities such as play spaces and recreation trails, along with regional and strategic planning.

The Local Sports Infrastructure Fund supports the Victorian Government’s determination to support disadvantaged communities and the growing demand for high quality accessible community sports infrastructure that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of their age, background, gender or ability.

Ongoing Commonwealth Grants closed for 2019, but reopening in 2020.

Communities Environment Program

The Communities Environment Program (CEP) supports small scale, community led environmental projects that address local environment priorities in Macnamara.

The project aims to deliver positive environmental and social outcomes as well as supporting community groups with additional resources, skills and knowledge to care for the environment.

To be eligible the community group must be an incorporated not – for – profit entity with an ABN located or carry out their work in Macnamara.

Applications for the Communities Environment Program have now closed for 2019; successful applications will be notified in coming weeks.

Stronger Communities Program

The Stronger Communities Program (SCP) is a capital works grant to support initiatives that will deliver social benefits to our community.

Eligible projects include upgrades or fit outs of community centres, sporting facilities or the development or upgrades of local parks, streetscapes, schools or bike paths.

The grant amount will be up to 50% of eligible projects, the remaining 50% can be from any source including donations in cash or kind, local or state government contributions.

Applications for the Stronger Communities Program have now closed for 2019; successful applications will be notified in coming weeks.

Local Schools Community Fund

The Local School Community Fund (LSCF) will provide up to $200,000 in grant funding in each Federal electorate in the 2019-20 financial year. Unfortunately this is less than the $11 million in extra funding that schools in the federal electorate of Macnamara would have received if a Labor Government had been elected.

Schools in Macnamara are eligible for a single grant between $1000 - $20,000 for small scale projects.

I have contacted all eligible school principals via post to inform them of their eligibility and to encourage them to apply.
